Ryan Day runs the Ohio State football program with a strong culture and it's a big reason for all of their success. The latest insight into the program is very telling.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have been "in the mix" in the college football world for multiple decades in a row now. Through multiple coaching changes, the Buckeyes have stayed in contention, and it has everything to do with the strength and culture of the program.

Urban Meyer leveled up what Jim Tressel did and Ryan Day has taken what Meyer did to the next level. Ohio State has two national championship wins in the College Football Playoff, and they weren't far off from a couple more.

Ohio State football's expectations show through starter's admission

Buckeye punter Joe McGuire explaining what happens if you're late to winter workouts with Mick Marotti shows the expectations in Columbus.

“If you’re a minute late, it is a disaster,” McGuire said via a recent podcast appearance on Dos and D. “Like, I would rather crash my car than show up late.”

What happens if you're late? It's a problem for all involved.

“You’ll have dawn patrol on Saturday, so you have to be there at 6. You're cleaning the weight room, you’re restocking fridges,” McGuire went on to say. “Sometimes, if there’s nothing to do, which happened to us one time, you’ll go on to the turf indoor field, and if there’s any white pieces of grass on the green piece of grass, we pick them up. Then, after that, you’ll have community service.

“Then, you’re kicked out of the locker room for three days. You’re like Harry Potter. You go down the stairs. That’s where you get changed and live for the three days.”

With such stipulations to follow if you're late, it's not likely that many Buckeyes are ever late. Ohio State having high expectations every year comes with a lot of pressure and it has to be felt in the preparation. Being a college football player at a major program is a full-time job and the responsibility is treated as such.

McGuire's insight into the Buckeyes and how they handle players being late to workouts should come as no surprise. Still, it's interesting to hear it from a player's firsthand experience.
