In a chaotic college football landscape, Ohio State fans have a lot to be thankful about with Ryan Day as their head coach

Look, we all know Saturday night didn’t go the way we wanted to, but sometimes you have to give credit where credit is due.

Indiana is really good, and Curt Cignetti is on an absolute heater. Who would have thought we would have said that Ohio State left the door open for Indiana in the Big Ten Championship?

Now that the Buckeyes have a loss going into the College Football Playoff, I believe they will be more focused. Ryan Day will have his team’s full attention, if he didn’t already. When he needs to, and the same goes for his team, Day will go scorched Earth, and his players will follow his lead.

That’s when Ohio State is at its best.

When you think of where Day and the Buckeyes were a year ago to where they are now, it’s one of the most remarkable reversals of fortune in college football history. By fortune, Buckeyes’ fans have a lot to be thankful for that Ryan Day is their head coach.

This season, more than any in the transfer portal/NIL era, we have seen the chaos that exists in this new day in college football. Head coaches getting fired in the middle of the season, schools tampering with players to come play for their programs, rivalries as we knew them now being whatever they are — it’s all different.

But what’s not different are the expectations that surround THE Ohio State Buckeyes. Ryan Day fully understands them, and this season, he has been locked into the pursuit. Saturday’s loss aside, this team has been otherwise dominant.

Drama has surrounded a lot of programs this season, none more so than Ole Miss and LSU. Look at how the whole Lane Kiffin saga played out, and that was mainly with Ole Miss. LSU had to deal with Brian Kelly and that whole other saga. Distractions hovered over both programs.

Then there is Penn State. They went from being No. 3 in the country and a popular national title pick to out of the top 25 and their head coach being fired in mid-October.

With Ohio State, there wasn’t drama. They entered this season as the defending national champions, and they answered the bell each and every game during the regular season. Every week they went out and took care of business before a stumble in Indianapolis.

There are many teams searching for something right now. Whether it be a head coach, quarterback, NIL, whatever it may be. The Buckeyes have everything going for them right now, despite Saturday’s Big Ten Championship loss.

In this landscape of college football, Day has Ohio state exactly where they need to be. He is the leader some other college football programs may envy because he does it the right way. They are college football’s version of the Patriots’ dynasty, where they do the little things and big things right.

The Buckeyes won 16 straight games before Saturday, including the national title. It all goes back to Ryan Day. He’s above the drama and chaos in college football. Ohio State fans have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season, and hopefully result in another national championship next month.
