Indiana coach Curt Cignetti featured prominently in EA Sports College Football 27 release trailer

Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti makes the face. You know the one, well, one of his many as he's become known for. But the camera pans to him, after a highlight of the Hoosiers winning the national championship, to open the reveal trailer of EA Sports College Football 27.

"A century of futility is forgotten. The Indiana Hoosiers are the kings of college football," the recap of the national championship on the broadcast concludes.

Then it gives way to a walk up the tunnel, looking across to the press box at Memorial Stadium. Next scene: Cignetti staring at the victory flag, writing a letter as he begins narrating.

"Some players walk through that tunnel, onto that field — grew up dreaming of putting on this uniform," Cignetti, who is featured on the cover of the video game, begins his narration.

"They've rooted for this team their whole life, and want to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Some have another dream: the money, the deals, the cars, the shiny teeth.

"That's college football now. I get it. Everyone's gotta make a name for themselves. Truth is, I don't care why you show up. I care what happens after you do."

The game goes through a series of clips featuring fans and gameplay. Then Cignetti continues, "I care if you love to compete, if you want every advantage, and if it turns into one thing on Saturday: winning. That's why I want you here."

In the middle of that phrase, senior defensive back Jamari Sharpe picks off Washington. Cignetti then signs his name on a letter.

The trailer shows more highlights as Cignetti cuts in again, "That's what you're here to do, and there's no better place to do it."

EA Sports College Football 27 release date

EA Sports College Football 27 releases July 2 for early access (deluxe edition and bundle with Madden 27) and July 6 for EA Play Pro subscribers, then July 9 for all other customers.
