Indiana football DC Bryant Haines named Broyles Award semifinalist

Indiana football defensive coordinator Bryant Haines has been named a semifinalist for the Broyles Award, which is presented annually to college football’s top assistant coach, according to the program’s social media.

The list of semifinalists includes former Indiana and current Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack, Ohio State defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, Oregon defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi and Miami defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman, who was Haines’ predecessor as Curt Cignetti’s defensive coordinator at James Madison.

The award is named in honor of legendary coach Frank Broyles, who spent almost the entirety of his career as a head coach at Arkansas. The trophy itself depicts Broyles and Wesley Matthews, a longtime friend and member of the Razorbacks’ coaching staff.
