Indiana football is on the verge of reaching the College Football Playoff national championship game.
Midway through the CFP Peach Bowl semifinal from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Jan. 9, the Hoosiers held a 42-15 lead over Oregon. Fernando Mendoza has been dominant for Indiana in the playoff run, with seven touchdowns and just three incompletions.
The Hoosiers opened the game with a pick-6 from D'Angelo Ponds, setting the tone for a dominant performance for the second straight week. Based on this game alone, it would be hard to tell that Indiana football went 3-9 in 2023 and has turned into a football powerhouse just two years into Curt Cignetti's tenure as the head coach.
Indiana is seeking its first-ever national championship in football in program history and is more than halfway to that accomplishment. If the Hoosiers hold on, they'll play Miami in the national championship on Jan. 19 from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

It's fun to beat up on overmatched competition but Curt Cignetti really needs to raise the difficulty level on his Indiana dynasty
