BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football added a commitment from Miami tight end Brock Schott on Monday, according to multiple reports.
It’s a homecoming of sorts for Schott, who was the No. 5 prospect out of Indiana in the 2025 signing class. The Leo High School alum, near Fort Wayne, had 31 scholarship offers, including one from coach Curt Cignetti and his staff. He redshirted for the Hurricanes after playing in just one game as a freshman.
Indiana has landed nine commitments out of the transfer portal as it looks to build on back-to-back College Football Playoff appearances under Cignetti.
Why Brock Schott’s lack of production wasn’t an issue for IU football
Schott doesn’t have the type of experience Cignetti typically prioritizes out of the portal, but he isn’t lacking the tools to become an elite player at the position.
The 6-foot-3, 245-pounder made the 247Sports “Freaks List” coming out of high school as a two-sport athlete who cleaned 315 pounds, bench-pressed 225 pounds 20 times, ran a 4.24-second short shuttle and a 127-inch broad jump.
Miami coach Miami Cristobal told reporters that Schott, “looks like something out of the Predator movies.”
Indiana football needs to reload at tight end going into 2026
Schott, who will have four years of eligibility left, will join a tight end room that isn’t bringing back any experience at the position.
The No. 1 Hoosiers (14-0) are graduating three players at the position (Riley Nowakowski, Holden Staes and James Bomba) and the two returning tight ends on the roster (Andrew Barker and Blake Thiry) have played one offensive snap between them.
They did add three more tight ends during the 2026 recruiting cycle, but Cignetti’s staff has redshirted the majority of freshmen who have stepped on campus during his tenure.
Nowakowski and his predecessor Zach Horton were versatile weapons for IU in the passing game while being asked to carry a heavy load as run blockers. They thrived with a lunch-pail attitude that was frequently noticed by the opposing coaches who turned on the film.
