BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football landed a commitment from Tulane receiver Shazz Preston on Monday afternoon, per his Instagram account.
“Let’s do it Hoosier Nation,” Preston posted alongside a photo of himself wearing IU gear.
The addition of Preston, who was Tulane’s leading receiver in every major statistical category, gives the No. 1 Hoosiers (15-0) multiple high-profile additions at the position after landing a commitment right out of the gate from former Michigan State receiver Nick Marsh.
Indiana will lose at least two key players in the rotation with Elijah Sarratt and E.J. Williams Jr. exhausting their eligibility and Omar Cooper Jr. could leave early for the NFL.
Preston had 43 receptions for 723 yards with four touchdowns in a breakout season for the Green Wave. The one-time Alabama signee was targeted just six times through his first three seasons in college.
He was a consensus 4-star recruit coming out of St. James High School (La.) in the 2022 signing class. He was the No. 56 overall ranked player, according to 247 Sports composite rankings, and had 20 scholarship offers from the likes of USC, Texas, LSU and Georgia.
Preston finished the season with an impressive performance in the opening round of the CFP with five catches for 125 yards with a touchdown against Ole Miss while playing against the coach, Pete Golding, who recruited him to Alabama.
