After Indiana football’s dominant 55-0 win over Howard in Week 2, the program is gearing up for Saturday’s matchup against Western Kentucky, though there are two defensive lineman that are not expected to play in the contest. However, it’s not due to injury, as Indiana football’s Stephen Daley and Kellan Wyatt were issued a temporary restraining order by a state judge to get eligibility for this year, which might have run out.
According to college football insider Pete Thamel of ESPN, defensive linemen Daley and Wyatt “are not expected to be eligible” for Saturday’s game against Western Kentucky for the Hoosiers. The temporary restraining order on the two players has “expired,” with the two players awaiting a “judge’s injunction ruling.”
“Sources: Indiana’s Stephen Daley and Kellan Wyatt are not expected to be eligible this weekend as they await a judge’s injunction ruling,” Thamel wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “They had been eligible on a temporary restarting order that’s expired. The judge has indicated that her ruling on the injunction will not come until next week. No. 4 Indiana plays Western Kentucky this weekend.”

This news comes after the report by Thamel on Sept. 4, a day before Indiana football’s opener against North Texas, that a temporary restraining order would be granted to Daley and Wyatt for eligibility. In a court order issued by Judge Kara Krothe of the Monroe Circuit Court in Indiana, she expressed the need to give them eligibility.
“To be clear, it is the Court’s intention to place Plaintiffs in the position they were in at the end of their last college sports season,” Krothe wrote in the ruling, according to ESPN. “As long as they would have been eligible, academically and otherwise, to continue playing college sports in the following semester if they had a fifth year of eligibility, they are eligible today.”
It remains to be seen how this situation progresses for Daley and Wyatt with the Hoosiers, and while it’s likely they don’t play on Saturday against Western Kentucky, Friday, Sept. 25, against Northwestern could see their return.
