BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football’s 13-10 win over Ohio State in the Big Ten title game was the most watched conference championship game in league history, according to Fox Sports.

This year’s Big Ten title game averaged 18.3 million viewers with a peak of 19,993,000 viewers from 11:00-11:15 PM ET. It was the network’s third most-watched non-bowl college football game in history.

It was the most watched conference title game on any network this season.

Those viewership numbers could become increasingly important in the years to come as the Big Ten weighs whether or not to move to move to a non-equal revenue distribution model similar to the ACC. They recently adopted a system that will distribute 60% of TV revenue based on a weighted five-year average of viewership.

Indiana’s game against Oregon earlier this season was the most-watched game on CBS in three years. The Hoosiers game against Penn State did big numbers on FOX’s noon time slot.
