Indiana WR Omar Cooper expected to be available against Alabama in Rose Bowl

No. 1-seed Indiana got some good news ahead of the Rose Bowl.

Junior wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr., the Hoosiers’ leader in receiving yards this season, is expected to be available for the Rose Bowl Game against No. 9-seed Alabama, per reporting from ESPN’s Pete Thamel. He left the Big Ten Championship game win over Ohio State with a lower body injury and Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti later stated he didn’t anticipate any long-term injuries coming from the game itself.

Indiana’s wide receivers room has had some injury trouble this season. Senior Elijah Sarratt, who starts next to Cooper, missed multiple games due to injury in the closing weeks of the season. This led to more targets for sophomore Charlie Becker, who broke out with 100+ receiving yard performances against Penn State, Maryland and Ohio State.

Indiana will take on Alabama on Thursday, January 1, at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California.
