The Dallas Cowboys probably didn't have enough room on the roster for third-year pro Marist Liufau. The 2024 third rounder was moved from off-ball linebacker to edge rusher this offseason, but he's behind a long list of guys there, especially after the signing of future Hall of Famer Von Miller. Liufau began working back with the inside backers in the last week or so of practice, but seems behind the eight ball there as well.

His uphill battle may have just gotten worse. In the exhibition finale, the former Notre Dame standout made a tackle late in the first quarter and appeared to injury his left wrist.

Observers immediately made the connection that the Cowboys could now have the ability to place Liufau on injured reserve in order to retain his services without putting him on the 53-man roster. Liuafau is competing with players like Justin Barron and Sam Williams to sneak onto the back end when cuts are finalized by Sunday at 5 pm CT.
