Insider reveals LSU's biggest 'hope' for Lane Kiffin return to Ole Miss

Thamel said there will be an increased police presence in Oxford that day for the game.

“There’s also going to be a sheriff’s deputies presence as well….for security and safety reasons,” Thamel added.

Kiffin didn’t exactly leave in an amicable parting with Ole Miss. Ole Miss fans reportedly booed him when he was leaving at the airport to head to Louisiana. This is because his last team there was preparing for the College Football Playoff.

While Kiffin stated he wanted to stay at Ole Miss through the CFP, officials at the school didn’t want him to do that. He now returns to Mississippi for the first time as LSU’s head coach.

This season, both LSU and Ole Miss enter this meeting with undefeated records. This game will have a major impact on not only the SEC standings, but also CFP seeding later in the year. Both schools hope to make the CFP this season.

Kiffin has sent a message to his team before the game.

“I told the players today, ‘Man, you don’t have anything to worry about as far as, like, attention on you all week and everything. There’s going to be so much attention, hatred, everything on me. You just get to go play,'” Kiffin said, per CBS Sports.

LSU and Ole Miss tangle Saturday. Time will tell if Kiffin can pick up a win in his old stomping grounds.
