As Iowa football continues to build on its future recruiting classes, the Hawkeyes extended an offer to talented 2027 safety prospect Darrell Mattison on Jan. 15.
Mattison, who is unranked by all major recruiting sites as of Jan. 16, is a 6-foot-2, 160-pounder from Morgan Park High School in Chicago, Illinois, with 15 other offers from programs such as Iowa State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, Kansas State, and Big Ten foes Michigan, Northwestern and Minnesota.
#Blessed#AGTG After a great conversation with @CoachSWallace I am blessed to receive a offer from The University of Iowa! 💛#Hawkeyes@HawkeyeFootball@ChadSimmons_@TomLoy247@_MP_Football@EDGYTIM@Chris_CJ_6@adamgorney@AllenTrieu@GregSmithRivalspic.twitter.com/HZSSbcxrJR

While Illinois has not offered the talented safety, Mattison has recently confirmed he will attend the Fighting Illini's Junior Day on Jan. 17. Likewise, Mattison has an unofficial visit scheduled to Iowa City on Jan. 31, which is the date of the Hawkeyes' Junior Day festivities, according to On3.
While Iowa certainly has competition for Mattison's commitment as his recruitment continues to strengthen, the Hawkeyes have clearly identified him as a valuable future asset to the back end of their defense.
