The first College Football Playoff rankings were unveiled on Tuesday night and the Hawkeyes find themselves inside the initial top 25.

After winning three straight to move its record to 6-2 (4-1 Big Ten), Iowa checks in as the nation's No. 20 team in the first CFP rankings. The Hawkeyes have a chance to enhance their CFP rankings resume in a hurry this week, too.

Iowa welcomes in the Oregon Ducks on Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff from inside Kinnick Stadium. The Ducks checked in as the No. 9 team nationally in the first CFP rankings.

Iowa will see another ranked foe the following week when the Hawkeyes travel to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for an afternoon bout against No. 19 USC.

Wins over both Oregon and USC (6-2, 4-1 Big Ten) would put Iowa firmly in the hunt to make its first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff. From there, Iowa's final two games of the 2025 regular season are against Michigan State (3-6, 0-6 Big Ten) on Nov. 22 and at Nebraska (6-3, 3-3 Big Ten), who is now without its starting quarterback.

Other Big Ten teams inside the initial CFP top 25 include No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Indiana, No. 21 Michigan and No. 23 Washington. In all, seven Big Ten teams are inside the first CFP top 25 rankings.
