The Iowa football program is continuing to put in work on its 2027 recruiting class.
The Hawkeyes are up to seven commitments in their 2027 class now after picking up four pledges over the past couple of weeks. They've added some talent along both lines of scrimmage, in the secondary, and at the tight end position. Now, they've turned their attention to the most important position in all of sports: quarterback.
Iowa is in the mix for 2027 four-star quarterback Jake Nawrot, who's highly sought-after by other elite programs. However, that's not the only signal-caller the Hawkeyes are after in this class. On Tuesday, three-star Brayden Santibanez announced that he's received an offer from Iowa.
After an amazing visit and a great conversation with @CoachTimLester, I’m incredibly blessed to receive an offer from The University of Iowa!! @CoachVandeMerkt@Spauldingiowa@RhettSmeins@HawkeyeFootball@CHSDragonFB@CoachJoeRocconi@ChadSimmons_@adamgorney@TomLoy247… pic.twitter.com/xB7UKRnvLn

Santibanez is from Collierville, Tenn., and Collierville High School. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound quarterback is the 73rd-ranked quarterback and No. 43 player out of Tennessee in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports. He currently holds offers from 20 schools, including Maryland, North Carolina, Boston College, and Cincinnati.
Santibanez split reps at the quarterback position for Collierville as a junior in 2025, completing 66% of his passes for 1,140 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also added 321 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, showing off a dual-threat skillset. He's in line to be the full-time starter as a senior in 2026, which should continue to elevate his stock throughout the fall.
The Hawkeyes see a lot of potential in Santibanez, as they didn't just offer him a scholarship on Tuesday. The very next day, they locked down an official visit weekend for him: June 12-14.

With offensive coordinator Tim Lester entering his third season in Iowa City and an improved offense over the past couple of years, high school quarterbacks are showing much more interest in the program. Iowa now has a good recruiting pitch to those guys and should see better results in the recruiting game, potentially beginning with Santibanez.
Here's a look at Santibanez's highlights:
