The College Football Playoff rankings have been the talk of the sports world and the epicenter of college football for the last 48 hours. The moving, shuffling, and snubbing have been dramatic and divisive, but the dust is beginning to settle.
With the 12-team bracket set, the remaining rankings following conference championships have also been released. In the College Football Playoff rankings entering bowl season, the Iowa Hawkeyes are ranked among the top 25 teams in the nation.
Iowa has come in at No. 23 in this week's College Football Playoff rankings. Sitting at 8-4, Iowa has come in one spot ahead of a playoff participant from the Group of Five, the No. 24 James Madison Dukes, who stole a bid to the playoff after Duke upset Virginia in the ACC Championship.
At the top of the rankings, No. 1 Indiana and No. 2 Ohio State have each nabbed one of the four byes, even with the Hoosiers winning a tight Big Ten Championship game. The other two byes belong to No. 3 Georgia and No. 4 Texas Tech.
The rest of the top 10 teams consist of No. 5 Oregon, No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 7 Texas A&M, No. 8 Oklahoma, No. 9 Alabama, and No. 10 Miami, who leapfrogged the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for the final at-large spot in the College Football Playoff.
The remaining two bids, by way of automatic bids as one of the five highest-ranked conference champions, belong to No. 20 Tulane and No. 24 James Madison.
