Iowa football signee tabbed as Rivals' 2026 'sleeper' QB

The Iowa Hawkeyes are already at work bolstering the roster and reloading talent. With Signing Day having just recently come and gone, the Hawkeyes added a strong crop of talent that has ranked in the top quarter of teams in the country.

The 2026 class is headlined by a talent that Iowa recently flipped from Boise State, four-star quarterback Tradon Bessinger. His flip to the Hawkeyes is a striking statement that the Iowa offense and style of play are not what they once were, just a few years ago, but it is an attractive spot to come win at.

With the dust settled, Rivals took a look at the top quarterbacks in the class and stamped Bessinger with the label of being the “biggest sleeper” of the group, who could blossom into one of the top talents of the quarterback class.

Tradon Bessinger, the four-star product from Davis High School and Kaysville, Utah, is ranked as the No. 11 quarterback in the class of 2026 as well as the No. 4 overall recruit from Utah, per 247Sports.

Bessinger chose Iowa over the likes of Boise State, BYU, Hawaii, Appalachian State, Minnesota, and UCLA, among others.

He was electrifying in his final high school season, throwing for 4,313 yards and 53 touchdowns, while completing 76% of his passes. During the three years of starting in high school, he played in 36 games, throwing for 10,908 yards and 127 touchdowns. He added 395 career rushing yards and seven touchdowns as well.
