Auburn football's secured more players from the transfer portal than most this offseason, but it could be adding even more, according to head coach Alex Golesh.
The Tigers "have a little bit of room" left to make further portal additions, Golesh said Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Senior Bowl, meaning Auburn would add to its tally of 39 incoming transfers.
"There's going to be this last surge of kids that potentially graduate in May," Golesh said. "You know, they've still got to go to school. It's, like, a thing still. So, graduate in May, there's some late May-out junior college guys, some late-qualifier high school guys. We've left ourselves a little bit of room, but for the most part, you feel like it's close to done."
While it's not a certainty, Golesh was far from opposed to bringing in more transfers. In particular, he noted the offensive line as a position group "where you're always looking" to make additions, though nine of Auburn's incoming transfers, nearly one-fourth of its class, are offensive linemen.
Auburn's transfer class ranked 13th nationally, according to 247Sports, and sixth-best in the SEC. Its 39 additions were the sixth-most nationally, and the Tigers were one of just 10 programs to have added at least 30 players from the portal.
