CLEMSON — Quarterback Cade Klubnik is likely to return for Clemson football‘s Week 10 game vs. Duke.
He suffered an ankle sprain in Clemson‘s win against Boston College in Week 7. Tigers coach Dabo Swinney said Klubnik practiced on Oct. 27 and participated a “good amount” in the following two days, leading him to being listed as probable on the ACC’s availability report.
Clemson (3-4, 2-3 ACC) will host Duke (4-3, 3-1) on Nov. 1 (noon ET, ACC Network) at Memorial Stadium.
Klubnik’s mobility may be limited against Duke due to his injured ankle. He missed his first career game against SMU in Week 8 with backup quarterback Christopher Vizzina starting in place of him. It was the first time since 2014 that a Clemson starting quarterback missed a game because of injury.
Klubnik is completing 65.8% of his passes for 1,530 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions this season. He also rushed for two scores. He found his groove in his last two starts, scoring six touchdowns (one rushing) and having one turnover, to help Clemson’s offense blossom.
If Klubnik would miss his second straight game, Vizzina would slot in for his second career start. He was 29-of-42 passing for 317 yards, three touchdowns and a fumble and rushed for four yards on 15 attempts in the loss to SMU.
