HOUSTON – The last time LSU football played in the Texas Bowl, standout linebacker Whit Weeks suffered a dislocated ankle injury. That was last season against Baylor.

The Tigers (7-5) will return to the Texas Bowl for the second straight bowl season Saturday night (8:15 p.m. CT, ESPN) inside NRG Stadium where it’ll face Houston (9-3). This time, Weeks won’t be playing.

Weeks suffered a broken ankle against Ole Miss earlier this season and missed the next four games before playing sparingly over the final three games of the regular season as he was working his back from the ankle injury.

After a breakout sophomore season, Weeks managed just 31 tackles this season, including a sack and three total tackles for loss. Weeks had eight quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery in 2025.
