Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders and his team have had a rough few days after the Northwestern Wildcats blew them out 41-7 last weekend. On Tuesday, Coach Prime announced that he had removed several players from the Buffs’ roster for conduct detrimental to the team. Linebacker Tyler Martinez addressed Coach Prime’s removal of his teammates.
Colorado LB Addresses Deion Sanders’ Harsh Actions Towards Players
During Tuesday’s news conference, Tyler Martinez was matter-of-fact about his coach Deion Sanders’ strict reaction towards his teammates.

“The dismissals, it sucks in the moment,” Martinez sid. “But when you look at the big picture, if it’s gonna help us win, we gotta do it. It is what it is. I’m sorry to see those guys go, but we have games to win here. And so, whatever it takes is whatever it takes.”
The Buffs head coach was livid after the loss to Northwestern, blasting some of his players for laughing immediately after the game. Sanders also promised to deal with the culprits.
During Tuesday’s tense news conference, Buffs safety Ben Finneseth apologized for comments about Northwestern’s atmosphere, which were caught on camera and posted on social media.
Coach Prime first put college football on alert when he flipped the Buffs’ roster in his first season in Boulder. Sanders’ actions caused widespread criticism from fans and analysts but soon became the norm in college football.
Sanders also turned the Buffaloes into a headline grabber in American sports and Boulder became the Mecca of college football in his first season. But after Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders left Colorado last year, the Buffaloes slumped to a 3-9 finish and the national spotlight on the program faded.
The Buffs coach was on one of college football’s hottest seats this season. After Week 3’s blowout loss and the players’ dismissal, Sanders is under a national spotlight.
During his news conference on Monday, Coach Prime blasted the released players for putting themselves above the team.

“It’s never one [thing],” Sanders said. “I’m one of the most loving and giving and forgiving men you could ever meet, but when you start [having] conduct detrimental to the team, you don’t care about the team; you care about you. I have a problem with that. A year ago, I didn’t put my foot down in it enough. It lingered a little bit. Then, it imploded. I’m not doing that anymore.”
The Buffs will face a tough test to open Big 12 play in Week 4 when they travel to Waco to take on the Baylor Bears.
