It 'won't be easy' for FSU to flip a key OT target from Nebraska

The FSU Seminoles are still looking for their first commitment from an offensive lineman in their 2027 recruiting class, something the coaching staff has to address. While new targets will surely emerge, the coaching staff is also trying to flip some players they missed out on initially.

One of those targets is Timi Aliu, a four-star offensive tackle from Locust Grove, Georgia, who is committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. While he has been committed to them since May, he unofficially visited FSU last weekend when they hosted the New Mexico State Aggies to start the season.

It was a positive sign that FSU got him on campus, but On3's Chad Simmons thinks it will be tough for the Seminoles to pull off the flip.

"Still, flipping Aliu won’t be easy," he wrote. "He loves Nebraska’s staff, has developed strong relationships with the Cornhuskers’ commitments and continues to sound comfortable with his decision."

"Aliu appears strong with the Cornhuskers entering the season," he added. "Florida State hasn’t accepted that as the final answer."

He is ranked as the No. 270 overall player and No. 23 offensive tackle in the Rivals industry ranking. He is also the No. 27 player from Georgia.

For FSU to have a serious shot at flipping Aliu, they will likely need to have a strong season on the field and get him back to Tallahassee for an official visit. They will have a chance to pick up an impressive win this weekend when they host the No. 19 SMU Mustangs.
