Colorado coach Deion Sanders dismissed several players from the Buffaloes’ roster after the team’s woeful 41-7 Week 3 loss to the Northwestern Wildcats.
After the dismissals, college football fans and analysts on social media predicted that Sanders’ tenure at Colorado would soon end.
Former NFL linebacker Su’a Cravens blasted fans on social media for piling on Coach Prime.

After the announcement of the players’ dismissal, one college fan heralded the end of Sanders’ tenure in Colorado and blasted the Buffs’ current standing under the divisive coach.
“Have a feeling this is going to be Deion’s last year in Boulder. The amount of publicity he brought CU in 2023 & 2024 was worth every penny but the shine has worn off and now the Buffs are just another bad football team…” the fan remarked.

Cravens replied to the fan’s post with a forceful account of the criticism Coach Prime has faced during his time at Colorado.
“Why are we acting like CU was supposed to turn into a national championship contender??? Why are we acting like he hasn’t achieved more at CU in the last 4 years than we’ve seen in the last 20 years combined ?? I hate yal only do this with Prime because yal have a deep disdain for his style of coaching and how speaks or a grudge from back in his playing days. It’s really weird lol,” Cravens replied.
Sanders divided opinion among fans and analysts when he overhauled Colorado’s roster after arriving from Jackson State in 2022, ultimately bringing in 49 transfers for his first season while more than 50 players from the previous roster departed through the portal.
Coach Prime quickly turned Colorado into a destination for recruits as the Buffs raced to a 3-0 start and became one of the most talked-about programs in the country.
Despite slumping to a 4-8 record in his first season, the hype around the program was at an all-time high when the Buffs responded with a 9-4 finish in 2024. The Coach Prime effect faded after Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders left for the NFL, with the Buffs subsequently finishing with a disappointing 3-9 record.
After entering the season on one of college football’s hottest seats, Sanders revamped his coaching staff during the offseason. Colorado then opened the season with wins over Georgia Tech and Weber State before last weekend’s loss to Northwestern brought the optimism in Boulder to an abrupt halt.
