Jackson State football's Quincy Ivory named SWAC Defensive Player, Newcomer of Year

Jackson State football defensive lineman Quincy Ivory is the SWAC Defensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, the conference announced on Dec. 2.
Ivory joined the Tigers this season after spending two years at Florida. He finished the regular season with 64 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and six sacks, all team-highs. His tackles for loss and sacks ranked third and fourth in the conference, respectively. Ivory also recorded an interception, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and five quarterback hurries. He was also named to the All-SWAC first team defense.
In total, Jackson State saw 10 of its players named to the 2025 All-SWAC teams, which were announced Dec. 1.
Jackson State (9-2) plays Prairie View A&M (9-3) in the SWAC Championship game at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium on Dec. 6 (1 p.m. CT, ESPN2).
In addition to Ivory, running back Ahmad Miller, offensive linemen D’Andre Townes-Blue and Brian Williams Jr., and linebacker Reid Pulliam were all named All-SWAC first team.
Miller makes the first team after totaling 1,027 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns on the season. Pulliam finished second on the team in tackles and tackles for loss with 60 and 9.5, respectively. He also forced and recovered a fumble.
Quarterback JaCobian Morgan, offensive lineman Quaveon Davis, wide receiver Nate Rembert, defensive lineman Jeremiah Williams and defensive back Kam Sallis were named to the second team.
Morgan makes the second team, despite playing in just six games this season. In those games, he threw for 1,183 passing yards and 11 touchdowns with two interceptions. Rembert was JSU’s leading receiver with 670 yards and seven touchdowns.
Williams and Sallis were instrumental to JSU’s defense, with Williams totaling 30 tackles and two sacks and Sallis tallying 41 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble.
