Jacksonville State football offensive coordinator Clint Trickett will be moving to Arkansas.
Trickett confirmed the move to the Gadsden Times on Wednesday after it was reported he would be moving jobs ahead of the Jax State bowl game vs. Troy. He will be the quarterbacks coach for the Razorbacks.
Trickett helped lead the Gamecocks to a 9-5 record and Salute to Veterans bowl win, a 17-13 victory over the Trojans. He lost his No. 1 offensive weapon, the nation’s leading rusher and Conference USA Player of the Year, Cam Cook.
The Gamecocks had the nation’s fourth-ranked rushing attack at 258 yards per game with Trickett as the play caller. The Gamecocks averaged 28 points per game.
Trickett leaving means the Gamecocks will be looking for a new offensive coordinator for the second straight offseason. It is an attractive job with Cook, quarterback Caden Creel and an young offensive line potentially returning to Jacksonville.
The Gamecocks also boast some playmaking receivers like 6-foot-8 Deondre Johnson and could see Brock Rechsteiner return for a fifth season.
