Jadan Baugh Gets Honest on Staying With Florida Gators

Florida Gators star running back Jadan Baugh decided to stay with the program rather than transfer to another team. 

Florida made some changes, firing Billy Napier as their head coach and bringing in Jon Sumrall to replace him. 

Sumrall comes over with a ton of success as head coach after stops at Troy and Tulane. In his two years at Troy, Sumrall finished with a 23-4 record before going 20-8 at Tulane, including a trip to the College Football Playoff.

He brings a strong track record and now leads a storied program with great resources to guide them to a successful season. 

Sumrall has already made great progress with the program, landing talented players in the transfer portal while convincing star running back Baugh to remain with the team.

"The day after Jon Sumrall attended his father's funeral, his entire family was at Jadan Baugh's grandmother's house in Atlanta. It was Christmas Eve, and the new Florida head coach needed the star running back to know how important he was to the program's future," On3 national reporter Pete Nakos wrote. 

"It meant everything to me," Baugh told On3. Sumrall and the Gators' pitch to Baugh worked, and he will be a leading piece for their offense in the 2026 season. 

Baugh has been a great player in his first two years with Florida. In his freshman campaign in 2024, he rushed for 673 yards and seven touchdowns while catching four passes for 33 yards and a touchdown.

Baugh was more impressive in his sophomore campaign, rushing for 1,170 yards and eight touchdowns while hauling in 33 receptions for 210 yards and two touchdowns.

He will be playing under a new system, as Baugh brought in Buster Faulkner as the offensive coordinator, who previously served in that role at Georgia Tech. Baugh will also be sharing the backfield with a new quarterback, as there is a battle between Tramell Jones Jr. and Georgia Tech transfer quarterback Aaron Philo. 

The Gators struggled in the 2025 season, finishing with a 4-8 record, but with Sumrall coming in as their head coach and Baugh returning for another season, there is hope for success in 2026.
