Jalen Brewster, nation’s No. 1 prospect, visits Indiana football

Indiana football was in the headlines this past season for its 12-0 run through the regular season, downing of Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship and subsequent march through the College Football Playoff all the way to a national championship. Now it’s still in those headlines, just in the offseason.

Jalen Brewster, a Texas Tech commit and the No. 1 player in the class of 2027 by both 247Sports and Rivals/On3’s recruiting industry rankings, visited Bloomington this past weekend alongside multiple other visitors including fellow a 5-star in wide receiver Monshun Sales.

The Hoosiers have been recruiting Brewster, who plays at Cedar Hill High School in Texas, for quite some time. He has prior connections to the state, which he refers to as home, including originally being from Indianapolis with his father, Robert Brewster, having starred at Ball State alongside current Indiana defensive coordinator Bryant Haines.

Indiana’s defensive front was key to the Hoosiers’ success all season with its ability to generate pressure against opposing quarterbacks and limit opposing running games. Coming home to a program that emphasizes defensive line play is a strong pitch from head coach Curt Cignetti and position coach Pat Kuntz.
