Jaylen Mbakwe has not seen the field much after switching to Alabama football’s wide receiver room in 2025.

Across four games, Mbakwe played 31 snaps on offense, playing in a season-high 19 in the Crimson Tide’s win against Eastern Illinois, per Pro Football Focus while also working on special teams. He had 3 catches for 55 yards and one 4-yard rush.

But when asked directly about if he would enter the NCAA transfer portal after the 2025 season, Mbakwe denied the claim.

“Definitely not,” Mbakwe told Austin Duncan Media.

Mbakwe announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal after the 2024 season, but quickly changed his mind. He told Austin Duncan Media that Alabama “was the place I wanted to be.”

Mbakwe has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

No. 9 Alabama kicks off against No. 1 Indiana in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the 2026 Rose Bowl Thursday, Jan. 1.
