Michigan football is looking to fill its head coaching vacancy and the fan base has been abuzz — for better or worse — about the potential candidacy of Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm.

The former Purdue coach is at his alma mater now, but that hasn’t stopped Brohm from being listed as ‘a name of interest’ for the Wolverines. However, after the narrow victory over Toledo in the Boca Raton Bowl, Brohm was asked about the opening and declined his interest.

“Well, I don’t speak on other jobs,” Brohm said. “I’m happy with this one and happy about the victory and we’re going to enjoy that.”

It’s unclear if he was or is a legitimate candidate for the Michigan job. And if Brohm is not in the running, it’s also not clear who actually is at this juncture.

Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel told the team on Monday that the intention is to have a new head coach in place by the bowl game — a week from Wednesday. We should have a clearer picture of where the maize and blue stand in the coming days if that’s to come to fruition.
