The Michigan football coaching search may be heating up yet again as the Wolverines seek to replace the recently fired Sherrone Moore.

After being tied to Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer and Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham, the ship has sailed, at least on the latter. Now the name of Jeff Brohm, currently of Louisville and formerly of Purdue, is being floated as a ‘name of interest’ in the search.

Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm has emerged as a name of interest at this point in the Michigan coaching search, sources tell On3. (…)

It’s unclear at this point how far along Brohm is in the process with Michigan, but he’s a clear name of interest. Other names that continue to come up in conversation with sources include Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz, former Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham, Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter and interim head coach Biff Poggi. Michigan would ideally like to make a hire for the long term, if it identifies the right target, sources said.

As mentioned, it’s not particularly clear at the moment whether Brohm is a serious candidate or simply in line to be seriously considered. It’s also unclear at the moment if there is a true frontrunner or if the Wolverines are simply moving down a list of candidates.

Interim coach Biff Poggi told reporters on Monday that athletic director Warde Manuel told players that he intends to have a coach in place by the bowl game.
