Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith didn’t win the Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the nation’s best wide receiver every season.
USC wide receiver Makai Lemon won the award after finishing the 2025 regular season with 79 receptions for 1,156 yards (leads the Big Ten) and 11 touchdowns. Like Smith, Lemon was must-see television each week.
Smith, who has 80 receptions for 1,086 yards and 11 touchdowns, wasn’t happy with the news and wants everyone to know via video that he’s going to take his game to the next level.

Smith has already been in college football for two seasons and has been lights out, compiling 156 receptions for 2,401 yards and 26 touchdowns. He’s likely going to be one of the first receivers taken whenever he declares for the NFL Draft.
However, his first order of business is to help Ohio State repeat as national champs. Despite losing to Indiana in the Big Ten Championship Game, Ohio State has a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff after a dominant regular season. Ohio State went 12-0 during the regular season before suffering its first loss.
Smith and the rest of the Buckeyes will await the winner of the Miami Hurricanes-Texas A&M Aggies first-round game, which will be played in College Station at noon ET on Dec. 20.
The Buckeyes will play in the Cotton Bowl Classic on Dec. 31 at 7:30 p.m. ET, and based on Smith’s tweet, that date can’t come soon enough. He’s out with something to prove to the college football world.
