The social media posts from CSU football staffers around Colorado poured in.

In a coordinated effort, new coach Jim Mora and staff made sure to start the recruiting contact period that opened Jan. 15 with a bang in the state of Colorado.

“Ram Rush” was the phrase from CSU football with 11 members of the staff out in Colorado visiting local high schools.

The new coaching staff made sure to post from each school they visited.

CSU linebackers coach Siriki Diabate was in Northern Colorado, starting with 2A champion Wellington. He also posted stops at Poudre, Rocky Mountain and Timnath.

Mora himself hit some key locations, visiting Fort Collins High School and taking a picture with several coaches and administrators, including former Ram and former Lambkin coach Matt Yemm. Mora also visited powerhouse Cherry Creek.

“I would like to build our program through high school recruiting. I would like to capture every great athlete in this state and make them Colorado State Rams,” Mora said in his first news conference as CSU coach.

The staffers spreading through the state were expected to visit more than 50 Colorado high schools in the first two days of the recruiting period.

Defensive line coach Kenny McClendon went out to the Western Slope, including stops at Montrose and Olathe. Quarterbacks coach Matt Mitchell visited several Denver-area schools, including power Valor Christian where his brother-in-law Mike Sanford is the coach.

Now, this isn’t the first CSU staff to make an early campaign in the state. Who remembers the “Box Em In” campaign from Steve Addazio’s staff when they took over?

The volume of in-state recruiting will be proven in the coming months and years, but this was a loud, aggressive start for Mora’s CSU.
