Jon Sumrall Celebrates Florida Gators' New Recruit with Simple 'GOOD' Response

The Florida Gators are coming off one of their worst seasons in recent history. Florida finished the season with a 4-8 record, its lowest win total since the 2017 season. Due to this poor performance, head coach Billy Napier was fired midway through the year. After the season, the Gators hired former Tulane Green Wave coach Jon Sumrall to replace Napier.

Before coaching in a game, Sumrall has been hot on the recruiting trail for the class of 2027. Heading into Tuesday, the Gators had landed 15 commits for the 2027 class, with one five-star, nine four-stars and five three-star recruits, according to 247Sports.

On Tuesday, Sumrall and the Gators got some more good recruiting news, as four-star wide receiver prospect Elias Pearl committed to Florida. He is the 90th overall recruit and No. 16 wide receiver in the 2027 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

After Pearl announced his commitment, Sumrall gave a one-word statement on social media.

“GOOD,” Sumrall wrote.

This is the same response he has had to every commitment he has landed since being hired by the Gators.

Pearl, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound wideout from Port Charlotte High School in Florida, has spent all three of his high school years on varsity so far. In those seasons, he has totaled 88 receptions for 1,405 yards and 17 touchdowns. He has also carried the ball 48 times for 277 yards and 11 more scores on the ground, according to MaxPreps.

His commitment allowed Florida to jump up to the No. 4 spot on the 247Sports 2027 Recruit Composite Team Rankings, as the Gators trail only the Oklahoma Sooners, Texas A&M Aggies and Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the rankings.

Sumrall has had great success on the recruiting trail since coming to Florida, as he and Gators fans hope it will translate to success on the field during his tenure.
