Jon Sumrall, Florida Improve to 2-0 With Dominant Win Over Campbell

Jon Sumrall is off to a great start with the Florida Gators as they are 2-0 after a 52-3 win over the Campbell Fighting Camels in Week 2 of the 2026 season.

Starting quarterback Aaron Philo played well, completing 16 of 21 passes for 242 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions while rushing for 13 yards and a touchdown on three carries.

Dallas Wilson was the leading receiver for Florida, as he had five receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown, while Vernell Brown III added three receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown.

While Brown III was solid in the receiving game, his impact in the return game was unreal, as he had four punt returns for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Special teams could make the difference down the line, and having an explosive returner in Brown III could be pivotal.

However, it was running back Jadan Baugh who stole the show with 136 yards and two touchdowns on 14 attempts. Baugh has established himself as one of the best running backs in college football and is only increasing his stock through the first two weeks of the season.

Baugh played well in the Gators' Week 1 win over Florida Atlantic, as he rushed for 160 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries.

He will continue to be the engine for Florida's offense and could be the first running back off the board in the 2026 NFL Draft.

On defense, the Gators held Campbell to a lone field goal in a dominant effort. They only allowed 148 yards in the air and held the Fighting Camels to 62 yards on the ground on 25 carries (2.5 yards per carry).

Aaron Chiles and Myles Johnson each recovered a fumble, while LJ McCray had a sack, and Jayden Woods and Jeramiah McCloud split a sack.

Sumrall has done a great job thus far with Florida, as he brought in a ton of talent this offseason to turn the program around. The Gators have played well in their first two weeks and will look to start the season 3-0 with a Week 3 matchup against the Auburn Tigers.
