It wasn’t long ago that Florida Gators fans were questioning the hiring of former Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall to lead their program.

However, after the Gators’ convincing 52-28 win over Ole Miss in Week 4, which moved Florida to 4-0, Sumrall has quickly silenced many of his early doubters, and CFB fans and analysts are taking notice.

College Football World Reacts to Florida’s Massive Win Over Ole Miss

Former NFL player and LSU alum Breiden Fehoko tweeted after Saturday’s game: “I’m starting to believe Florida made the right decision with backing out and going with Jon Sumrall.”

“Jon Sumrall is some [expletive] coach. Already has Florida rolling after being a dead program for years,” Barstool’s Eric Hubbs added.

“Jon Sumrall checks all the boxes. Good culture. Knows how to relate to players. He’s a defensive guy, but he knows how to hire OCs. Bright, bright future,” LSU Wire writer Will Rosenblatt said.

“Florida fans still mad about hiring Jon Sumrall?” asked SI’s Bryan Fischer.

Obviously, with most of the season still to go, the narrative around Sumrall can change. But with the way Florida is firing on all cylinders, the bigger question may soon be: Who will slow down the Gators’ momentum?

The praise for Sumrall continued to pour in.

“I’m glad there are certain schools that didn’t land Jon Sumrall. Dude is going to be a problem for years to come for Florida,” one user on X wrote.

“Florida looks, feels, and sounds different. Jon Sumrall. Cash money hire by the Gators,” NBC Sports broadcaster John Fanta added.

“Jon Sumrall changed Florida instantly. That’s another coach we wanted instead of the one we hired. Hogs just miss on everything lol,” a frustrated Arkansas fan on X exclaimed.

The Gators will now turn their attention to their next matchup against Missouri, which is also carrying plenty of momentum into Week 5.

Another convincing win for Sumrall and the Gators would only continue to silence the doubters who questioned the hire coming into The Swamp.
