Jordan Allen, who played two seasons for Tennessee football, has died. He was 27.

Allen died on Jan. 24, according to a series of Instagram posts by his mother, Lisa McGee. His cause of death has not been confirmed.

"I lost my beautiful son today completely unexpectedly. I know he found God and I am broken to pieces," McGee posted. "…  Jordan was very very loved and I will be announcing funeral services."

Allen was a Tennessee football player in 2018-20. He played nine games for the Vols, all coming in the 2018 season as a linebacker.

Allen sat out the 2019 season after undergoing preseason surgery to repair a torn hip flexor. He moved to tight end in spring 2020 but did not play in a game during that season.

His former UT teammates reacted on social media to the news of his death.

"Jordan was such an amazing friend and teammate!," former UT offensive lineman Jerome Carvin posted on Instagram. "He lit up every room he walked into! I honestly can’t even believe this."

Allen, a native of Fairfield, California, earned an undergraduate degree in sociology from UT in December 2020. He then transferred to Weber State as a graduate transfer but did not play in 2021 due to a lingering hip injury.

Allen came to Tennessee as a junior college transfer in 2018. He redshirted at UC Davis in 2016 and played at City College of San Francisco in 2017.

Jordan Allen's Tennessee football teammate died in December

Allen is the second UT linebacker from the same period to die in the past two months. His former teammate, Deandre Johnson, died on Dec. 3. He was 26.

Johnson played at Tennessee in 2017-20. Quart’e Sapp, another UT linebacker who played with Allen and Johnson, reacted to the latest death in a social media post on Jan. 26.

“My heart is heavy this morning. Losing two guys … from the same position room hurts deeply,” Sapp posted on X. “Two young men I helped recruit and guide both of whom fought through so much adversity. Two guys who never got the chance to truly see that there is so much more to life after football.”
