No. 23 Tennessee (8-4, 4-4 SEC) will conclude its 2025 football season on Tuesday. The Vols will play an in-state game against Illinois (8-4, 5-4 Big Ten) in the Liberty Mutual Music City Bowl.
Kickoff between Tennessee and the Fighting Illini is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. EST at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
Fifth-year head coach Josh Heupel discussed the bowl matchup for a final time on Monday.
“It’s our second time here,” Heupel said. “It continues to get better, but they have done a great job creating an experience for our entire program and our players with events throughout the course of the week. They have done a great job taking care of our families, as well. I am really excited that we have an opportunity to play in this game.
“We have had a great month of preparation, and you get a chance to go out and play a really good opponent in Illinois. I have great respect for coach (Bret) Bielema, not only what he’s done at Illinois but throughout his entire coaching career. They are a tough, smart and physical football team. I am looking forward to going out and competing with our guys tomorrow in Nissan Stadium. It’s a great venue for us to play in, and we get a chance to do it in our home state. We look forward to seeing the right shade of orange out there in big numbers tomorrow.”
