Justin Burke will join Kentucky as the tight ends coach

Former UTSA offensive coordinator Justin Burke will officially be joining the Kentucky Wildcats coaching staff as the tight ends coach, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Burke has had a close relationship with new head coach Will Stein dating back to their time together at Louisville.

The Lexington native and former Louisville QB spent the last three seasons running the Roadrunners’ offense. Burke’s offense was top 25 in the nation in points per game (33.8) and explosive plays during the 2025 season.

When the news broke that Stein was taking over at the helm for the Wildcats, there were reports that Burke was joining the staff, but it wasn’t said what exact job he was taking.

Burke and Stein were teammates at Louisville before coaching together at UTSA from 2020-22.

Burke has a great resume as he departs San Antonio for Lexington. In the last five seasons, the Roadrunners totaled a 46-20 record, two conference championships, five bowl appearances, and back-to-back bowl wins.

This past season, Burke’s offense ranked 23rd in scoring offense, 44th in total offense, 37th in yards per play, and was tied for fifth in plays of 40+ yards (22).

Stein adds a good friend to the staff on the offensive side of the ball, and the Wildcats’ staff is starting to shape up nicely for the 2026 season.
