Kalen DeBoer just proved that the Alabama Crimson Tide is the best in the nation when it comes to recruiting the quarterback position.
The Alabama Crimson Tide has improved year over year under Kalen DeBoer. After a rocky 2024, Alabama not only made the CFP but won a game on the road against the Oklahoma Sooners in 2025.
But most fans know what happened after that against Indiana isn’t good enough. Yet, Alabama extended Kalen DeBoer just last week, and it was due mainly to one reason: DeBoer’s ability to recruit the quarterback position. Well, he just showed how good he is yet again.
Alabama receives a commitment from 2028 QB Charles Scott
The Scott news marks four straight cycles in which Kalen DeBoer has received a commitment from a top-flight quarterback. It started with presumptive starter Keelon Russell, who committed as part of the 2025 class.
Then it was Jett Thomalla in 2026, last week it was Elijah Haven for 2027, and now it’s Scott for 2028. To be honest, that is part of the reason why DeBoer was hired. The athletic department saw what he accomplished with Michael Penix at Washington, and they were sold on the quarterback guru; now, fans may be starting to follow.

The two most important positions in modern football are your head coach and your quarterback. Well, following the extension for DeBoer and the signings in recent years, it’s safe to say that the future of both positions looks good at the Capstone.
Now, the next step is taking those commitments, taking a solid transfer portal crop, and getting Alabama back to where it belongs atop the country as a College Football Playoff National Championship contender in 2026 and beyond.
