One of college football's breakout quarterbacks for 2026 is beginning to emerge.

Mississippi State stunned No. 19 Missouri, 31-24, in Week 4 thanks to three touchdown passes from sophomore passer Kamario Taylor, who's starting to look like one of the best in the sport. Through four games, Taylor has completed 69.2% of his passes for 14 touchdowns and two interceptions.

With Taylor playing at a smaller SEC school, there's been plenty of speculation about his future and whether he'd transfer elsewhere. After Nick Saban made viral comments about that topic on Saturday, Taylor emphasized his commitment to the Bulldogs.

Here's what Taylor said in response to Saban's comments about his future.

Kamario Taylor responds to Nick Saban comments

On "College GameDay" on Saturday, Saban made a comment that seemed rather out of character for the legendary head coach who left the sport right before the explosion of NIL and the transfer portal.

When talking about Mississippi State vs. Missouri, Saban said that if he were still coaching, " I’d be trying to get KaMario Taylor to get in the portal."

Taylor proceeded to lead the Bulldogs to an upset win in Week 4, putting Mississippi State even more on the radar for the playoff hunt and continuing the buzz around his future.

Postgame, Taylor, who is from Mississippi, was asked about the constant questions about whether he'd leave the school.

“It’s hard because I’m in the season. I don’t like to reply or look at everything like that during the season,” Taylor said. “When people come to me, it’s hard to talk to them how I want to talk to them. But if you know me, you know I bleed maroon and white.”

With Mississippi State set to take on Saban's former Alabama squad next week, speculation around whether the quarterback would take off for another high-profile SEC team in the future will likely only continue. Taylor isn't NFL Draft eligible until 2028 — so he's set to remain one of college football's biggest stars for another year.

For now, Mississippi State is making some noise. With games against Alabama, LSU, Texas and Ole Miss still looming, the Bulldogs will at least have an opportunity to build a playoff case if they can handle another upset or two.
