LT Overton is back in the fold for Alabama football.
As the Crimson Tide prepares for its College Football Playoff quarterfinal date against Indiana at the 2026 Rose Bowl, Overton was in a crimson jersey and the first one in both the defensive line warm-up and rep lines.
After Overton missed both Alabama‘s SEC Championship Game loss to Georgia and the Crimson Tide’s CFP first-round win against Oklahoma, Wommack is excited to get one of his top pass rushers back on the edge.
“That’s an awesome blessing just for LT,” Wommack said. “It’s awesome for us. For him, he obviously has to have a good couple of days here, but is certainly on track. And to have him in this game, his experience, certainly his excitement of wanting to get back out on the field and go compete with his teammates. He’s an ultimate competitor.”
Wommack did not disclose the ailment that kept Overton out, but said that the defensive end has “done a really good job of staying in shape” and “looks great right now.”
Overton is second on the team with four sacks. He also has 35 tackles and six tackles-for-loss.
“When you have a difference maker like that off the edge, it certainly changes your defense,” Wommack said.
He is one of a handful of Alabama players who are confirmed to play in the 2026 Panini Senior Bowl in Mobile along with wide receiver Germie Bernard, tight end Josh Cuevas, running back Jam Miller, linebackers Deontae Lawson and Justin Jefferson, and defensive lineman Tim Keenan III.
Alabama kicks off against Indiana in the Rose Bowl at 3:10 p.m. CT Thursday, Jan. 1.
