LAWRENCE — The Kansas football schedule for the 2026 season has been released, and that’s led this month to KU Athletics officially putting season tickets for the campaign on sale.
The Jayhawks will continue to play their home games at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, as the second phase of the university’s Gateway District project unfolds. Instructions for how to acquire those tickets are available online, with six games — starting Sept. 4 against Long Island — set to be played by KU in Lawrence. As expected there will be a reduced capacity for the 2026 season, as construction continues on the east side of the stadium, with construction on the stadium expected to be completed ahead of the 2027 season.
“The University of Kansas continues to demonstrate its commitment to completing a 360-degree new build of David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium,” Travis Goff, KU’s director of athletics and vice chancellor, said in a release. “Simultaneously, we are focused on elevating Kansas Football, as recently demonstrated by increased investment in staffing and student-athlete retention and acquisition. We will not be deterred as we continue our work to build Kansas Football into a program all Jayhawks will be proud of and support. We are thrilled with the new west and north sides of The Booth and, in earnest, have begun the transformation of the east and south sides in advance of the construction of the mixed-use development that will create the Gateway District for the University of Kansas.”
Goff continued: “Our fans have stepped-up in support of this project via game-changing donations and the purchase of season tickets. As we head into year two, it is vital that we continue that trajectory to ensure the completion of The Booth and the continued build of Kansas Football.”
The second phase of the Gateway District project, which includes development next to the stadium, is set to be fully completed in 2028. That includes construction that will play out during the offseasons after the 2026 and 2027 seasons. For the 2026 season, though, there will be a new grandstand in the south that features student seating and a place for the Marching Jayhawks.
The 2026 season, which will see Kansas have the lower bowl of the east side of its stadium available for seating, will also include home games Sept. 12 vs Missouri, Oct. 3 vs Middle Tennessee State, Oct. 24 vs Baylor, Nov. 7 vs UCF and Nov. 21 vs BYU. There will be temporary concession and restroom options, as construction works toward finishing that side up ahead of the 2027 season. KU, under coach Lance Leipold, is coming off of a 5-7 season and searching to reach bowl eligibility again.
