MANHATTAN — Kansas State football continued to add to its secondary by landing a transfer portal commitment from an SEC safety.

Georgia transfer Adrian Maddox will sign with the Wildcats, according to On3’s Pete Nakos on Monday, Jan. 12. He becomes the fourth addition to the secondary out of the transfer portal over the last week.

Maddox is coming off one season with the Bulldogs, for whom he played four games. He played the 2024 season at UAB after two seasons at Alabama State. He will have one season of eligibility.

The 6-foot-1 safety’s best season came in 2024 when he played for Alabama-Birmingham. That season, he had 44 total tackles, eight passes defended, two forced fumbles and a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown. Pro Football Focus gave him high marks for his coverage skills, grading him at 89.5 out of 100. He allowed 17 receptions on 26 targets, giving up 181 yards and no touchdowns over 393 snaps.

This past season, Maddox only played 67 snaps across four games, while maintaining his redshirt. He played free safety and had a season-high 31 snaps for the Bulldogs in an Oct. 4 win over Kentucky, with 21 lined up at free safety.

During his two seasons at Alabama State, Maddox combined for 62 total tackles and two interceptions.

Information on Maddox’s recruitment after entering the portal is limited. 247Sports didn’t rank him out of high school.

Maddox is the second safety to commit to the Wildcats, joining Miami (Ohio) transfer Koy Beasley. The Wildcats have also added corners Kaleb Patterson (Illinois) and Ja’Son Prevard (Virginia). The Wildcats lost safeties Colby McCalister (Baylor), Daniel Cobbs (Baylor) and Qua Moss (Tennessee) to the transfer portal.

Maddox transfers to Kansas State, likely looking for more playing time than he had at Georgia. If he can recapture what he showed during his 2024 season at UAB, the Wildcats will put him to good use.
