MANHATTAN — New Kansas State football special teams coordinator Stanton Weber is bringing one of his former kickers with him to Manhattan.
Toledo transfer Robert Hammond III committed to K-State in an X post on Wednesday, Jan. 7. He’s coming off his sophomore season with the Rockets after beginning his career at Florida Atlantic.
Hammond didn’t kick field goals for Toledo until the team’s appearance in the Boca Raton Bowl against Louisville, where he made two of three kicks, including makes from 41 and 50 yards and a miss from 41 yards. He was the team’s kickoff specialist throughout the year, with 43 of his 71 kicks resulting in touchbacks.
On Hammond’s kickoff attempts, teams started with an average field position of the 26-yard line. According to Pro Football Focus, his kicks had an average hangtime of 3.78 seconds.
Hammond didn’t see the field in either of his two seasons at Florida Atlantic. He’s a native of West Palm Beach, Florida, and was an all-state performer in high school.
Kansas State is set to return kicker Luis Rodriguez in 2026, along with other specialists, including Cub Patton, Simon McClannan and Leyton Simmering, and will add Dylan Davison via the portal.
