Kansas State football defensive end Ryan Davis was ejected in the first quarter for targeting in the Wildcats’ Saturday, Nov. 22, contest at No. 12 Utah.

On third-and-8 from the Wildcats’ 38, K-State appeared to get a stop when Devon Dampier was sacked for a loss of two. After Dampier was on the ground, Davis came in late and hit a defenseless Dampier in the head. The play was reviewed and upheld.

Utah proceeded to drive down the field to tie the game at seven, as Byrd Ficklin ran in a 10-yard touchdown with 4:48 left in the first quarter. Kansas State scored the game’s first touchdown when Antonio Martin Jr. broke away for a 37-yard score.

Davis won’t return to the game due to the ejection, but he won’t have to miss any time in the Nov. 29 game at Colorado.

With 4:48 left in the first quarter, Kansas State had already committed six penalties for 50 yards.
