Kansas State Football: Julian Elzey Commits to Wildcats
MANHATTAN, KS – NOVEMBER 29: Kansas State Wildcats students brave the cold to cheer on their team in the fourth quarter of a Big 12 football game between the Colorado Buffaloes and Kansas State Wildcats on November 29, 2025 at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, KS. Julian Etzey, a 3* 6’0”, 170-pound safety prospect out of Brookwood High School in Lilburn, Georgia, committed to the Wildcats on March 30th.

Elzey’s offer list reads like a “Who’s Who” of southeastern schools, with Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida, Miami, and Auburn (amongst others) all inquiring about his services. The Rivals Industry Ranking has him as the 74th best player in Georgia, the 65th best safety, and the 638th best overall prospect for the 2027 recruiting class.

Thoughts

His offer list certainly looks elite. I don’t put too much stock into listed offers these days, because some teams hand them out like candy on Halloween, but he appears to have some legit interest from the upper crust of the college football landscape.

He’s relatively new to playing in the secondary after moving over from wide receiver midway through his sophomore year. In his first full year at safety, he put up 71 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, defended 4 passes, and blocked a punt. He’s known for versatility and the ability to make tackles in open space, finishing three games last season with 10+ tackles. Not only is he adept at getting ball carriers on the ground, but he can also line up everywhere. The Wildcats will have the option to play him at corner, slot corner, or free or strong safety. I almost like him more as a corner, where he can defend the quick passing game, but his ability to read and react also fits at safety.

I assume the coaching staff will get him on campus and then figure out where to play him.

As always, I’m not a recruiting expert and don’t possess a crystal ball, but on the surface, this looks like a big win for the Wildcats defensive staff in an important pipeline state. I happen to live in this particular pipeline state and will do my best to get to one of his games this fall.

I’ll be sure to wear my K-State gear and report back any findings.
