Kansas State football lands top-ranked juco WR Derrick Salley Jr.

MANHATTAN — The top-ranked junior college wide receiver in the country announced his commitment to Kansas State football on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Derrick Salley Jr., a 6-foot-4 receiver out of Hutchinson Community College, announced his decision to flip from a commitment to Minnesota to Kansas State. He’s ranked as 247Sports’ No. 7 juco recruit in his class and the top wide receiver.

Salley initially announced his commitment to the Golden Gophers earlier in the month. He announced on Tuesday, 16 days after his original commitment, that he was backing out. Hours later, he gave his pledge to Chris Klieman and the Wildcats. He was also pursued by Liberty, North Texas and Illinois in recent weeks.

Through 10 games played this season, Salley has 41 catches for 726 yards and 12 touchdowns. Notably, he caught eight passes for 146 yards and three scores against Iowa Central on Sept. 20.

Salley is listed as a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports JUCO. He’s ranked as the No. 7 player in his class and is the top-ranked wide receiver.
