Keke Palmer reacts to resurfaced clip of her interviewing Drake on ‘Degrassi’ set

Palmer poked fun at her younger self after footage of the future stars’ 2005 encounter resurfaced online.
Keke Palmer is getting a laugh out of a newly resurfaced video showing her interviewing Drake on the set of “Degrassi: The Next Generation” more than 20 years ago. The clip offers a throwback to Palmer’s child-star years and Drake’s Degrassi beginnings, before either had reached the level of fame they enjoy today.
Palmer reposted the video on Instagram after eTalk brought the 2005 footage back online. In her caption, she joked that she was “acting like I’m on 20/20” with her questions and teased her younger self for sounding like an older woman discussing a soap opera.
The clip shows Palmer and fellow young actor Malcolm David Kelley joining Drake on the “Degrassi” set. Drake, then best known as actor Aubrey Graham, played Jimmy Brooks on the Canadian teen drama.
Palmer quickly makes it clear she was not a casual viewer. She questions Drake about specific characters and storylines, including Manny Santos, and says she was “very disappointed” in the character. eTalk described Palmer as a huge fan of the series when it resurfaced the footage.
The moment was filmed before Palmer’s breakout performance in 2006’s “Akeelah and the Bee” turned her into one of Hollywood’s most recognizable young stars. Drake, meanwhile, was still years away from becoming one of the biggest names in hip-hop.
Palmer’s connection to “Degrassi” eventually came full circle. In 2011, she guest-starred as herself in the Season 11 premiere after years of wanting to appear on the show. Her storyline involved Sav Bhandari meeting Palmer without initially realizing who she was and later attending her concert.
TV Guide reported at the time that Palmer had asked for a chance to appear on “Degrassi” after beginning work with Nickelodeon. She performed two songs during her guest appearance and became part of the same series she had enthusiastically questioned Drake about years earlier.
The Keke Palmer Drake clip now gives fans a look at that fandom before the cameo, while Palmer’s own reaction shows she is just as entertained by her younger interviewing style as everyone watching it now.
