R&B singer Keke Wyatt was arrested in Georgia on September 20 and booked into the Henry County Jail. The charges included terroristic threats, simple assault and cruelty to children, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. Wyatt was released two days later after posting a $1,050 bond.
A representative for the Henry County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Wyatt’s arrest to TMZ. Authorities have not publicly disclosed what allegedly happened or what led to the charges.
Complex reported that the booking record lists Wyatt under her legal name, Ketara Wyatt Darring, and identifies the child-cruelty allegation as a third-degree “witness” offense. The record does not identify the child or provide details about the alleged incident. Wyatt has not publicly addressed the arrest or the allegations as of September 25.
Wyatt rose to national prominence in the early 2000s through her collaborations with R&B singer Avant. Their songs “My First Love” and “Nothing in This World” appeared on Wyatt’s gold-certified album Soul Sista.
She later became a familiar television personality through TV One’s “R&B Divas: Atlanta” and “Keke Wyatt’s World.” The singer is also known publicly as a mother of 11 children.
