Kendel Dolby to enter transfer portal, per report. How it affects OU football depth chart

NORMAN — As expected, OU defensive back Kendel Dolby plans to enter the transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos reported Wednesday.

After transferring to the Sooners from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M prior to the 2023 season, Dolby totaled 68 tackles, three sacks and two interceptions. Dolby showed flashes of excellence at OU coach Brent Venables’ famed hybrid cheetah position last season before sustaining a season-ending injury.

Dolby appeared in four games this season after returning from injury, but was a late “out” addition to the Sooners‘ availability report ahead of their game against South Carolina in October.

Oklahoma coach Brent Venables celebrates with Oklahoma Sooners defensive back Kendel Dolby (15) during a college football game between the University of Oklahoma Sooners (OU) and the University of Michigan Wolverines at Gaylord Family Ð Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Okla., Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025. Oklahoma won 24-13.

“He’s just trying to figure everything out, but he’s practicing,” Venables said Oct. 21. “So, that’s kind of where he is. He’ll be available.”

When Dolby returned from injury this season, it was harder for him to see the field with the Sooners’ defensive depth.

The transfer portal officially opens Jan. 2.
